I am a freelance audio engineer with over 20 years of experience, working mostly in the music production scene. My career began in Caracas, Venezuela, working with audio in the performing arts. That was followed by a 12 year run of recording studio experience in the Latin pop market in Miami, FL. There, I had the privilege of working with an “A” list of producers and artists, as well as with emerging local bands. I now live in New York City where I’ve been able to put into practice my extensive experience in different fields of the entertainment industry. My work now also covers fields like sound design for theater, sound applied to art, audio post-production for TV, radio and independent films. Even though I consider myself a music mix engineer, knowing that I’ve gone to rare, new places in my career (including things like forensic audio), help me keep my drive and energy fresh and always looking for new ways to grow.In my spare time, I like to focus on my other passion, photography, which started as a hobby, but has gradually turned into somewhat of a second career.

Chronology

Teatro Teresa Carreño. Caracas, Venezuela
1986 to 1991

The main cultural performing arts center of the country. I worked as an audio engineer for the Audio and Video department of the main theater (2500 seats). The theater boasted, yearly, a four title opera season, a ballet and a 'contemporary dance' season. For the rest of the year it was booked with concerts from the mayor classical orchestras of the country, as well as other mayor acts from around the world (Musicals, Pop/Rock concerts, theater, etc.). Our job, which included recording, mixing and sound reinforcement for all these events, also entailed documenting most of these productions on video, many of which aired on national television. Working in this environment allowed me to get much exposure in other aspects of production, like lighting, stage/scenery design and construction, video production, stage managing, etc.
