Many years ago, early in my career, I had the chance to ask Bob Ludwig, one of the great mastering engineers in the music industry, what kind of electronic device he used to know that he was done mastering a song. He paused for a moment and then said: "...I just tweak the knobs until my feet start moving".

That statement has affected the way I approach my work as an audio engineer, ever since.
